National Horror Examiner gives Late Night another 5 out of 5 star rating!!

Dr. Terror reviews our show and calls us "The Hee Haw of Horror"

Dr. Terror calls us "The Hee Haw of Horror"

In 1969, Hee Haw made an impact that changed the landscape of TV Land. The Variety/Humor show set the pace for what people enjoyed....why am I telling you about Hee Haw? Well, Dr. Terror, from Dr. Terror's Blog of Horror, recently reviewed our Tv show and likened us to the cult classic icon in Country Music TV...Hey, he could have said The Lawrence Welk Show.

Am I flattered? Of course...here are some other notables from the review:

"These guys are succeeding at resurrecting the comedy of Laurel & Hardy and/or Abbott & Costello only taking it to a very dark and magical place. Rob Dimension loves his physical comedy and is a master in the art of masochism (I've seen him blow himself up and cut his own hand off... that's dedication). Chef John will entice and dice your taste buds with some of the most interesting sounding meal preps I've ever heard (Armadillo eggs? yes please!). What you've got here is a combination of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 with Dinner and Movie and add some jokes straight out of the Munsters/Vampira/Zacherly playbook for garnish. It's like a variety show"

"There's a stake sandwich (yes, I spelled that correct) and an undying commitment to the love of schlock. Rob and John choreograph an entire military campaign against Gammera using army men and a toy replica and teach the audience how to cook something totally strange. This kind of entertainment is destined to jump off cable access and straight to AMC."

Local Philadelphia Film Maker says - "Camp + Horror = WIN"

 Late Night at the Horror Hotel makes a Sickening Thud

A few months ago, through some mutual friends, I was "wised up" to a local Philadelphia film making crew that was making some waves amongst the Underground. With titles like: 

"DAISY DERKINS, DOGSITTER OF THE DAMNED!"
"EVIL BREW"
"Battle Nun: Key To Heaven"
"THE HALF-LIFE HORROR FROM HELL or IRRADIATED SATAN ROCKS THE WORLD!"
"UNWINDING"
"EMBALMO!"

 

I had a feeling I was gonna like these guys. I hooked up with Wedge Wegman and her crew through emails and saw her last week at Monster Mania. She is a Punk Rocker, with a no nonsense attitude, plus she knows what vision she has in front of her and I think we were instant BFF's...okay maybe not...hahaha.

Their latest film, EMBALMO!, will be screened at the Project Twenty1 film festival during the weekend of October 1-3, 2010 and we are wishing them the BEST of luck. Okay, so enough of my babbling on...here is what she sent me today:

There is little else in the world that goes as well together as campy horror and sketch comedy, a fact that is proven once again by John Cannon, Rob Dimension, and Pigamortis on the Late Night Horror Hotel. Just after I was introduced to Dimension, he sent me two episodes of this mysterious show I'd never seen. With great trepidation, I put on an episode one night. And I was HOOKED! After greedily watching the second episode on the disk I found myself wanting more.



Dimension and Cannon play off each other quite well during the breaks in the films. Where some horror shows cut into the film at inappropriate times, these two seem to interject their dorky/ditzy humour at just the right moment. PLUS, they pull out the prop gags, something that I absolutely adore. (Cheese-STAKE, anyone??!? PRICELESS!)


The most impressive thing about the show? The hosts are down-to-earth, approachable guys who TRULY love this genre. This isn't about money or fame, folks. This is DIY fandom at it's best, and the Late Night Horror Hotel delivers a WIN!!

Another show review is in - Improv Instructor "Digs" the show

Dan Stabb is 1/2 of the Improv Comedy duo known as CUBED. CUBED is a workplace-comedy improv that relies heavily on audience suggestions and participation throughout the show. CUBED’s highly interactive performance allows the audience to write memos, provide their company’s name/service, and even become part of the show themselves.

Dan wanted to see what all the fuss was about, thinking we had met our match...we handed over a few episodes...a bit hesitant though. Unsure of our ability to "Win" Stabb over, we all waited patiently for a reply, to our surprise.....this is what Dan sent us:

"Finally got a chance to watch it -- I definitely dig it. The interplay between you and John is really fun. Besides, I'm always a sucker for a good laugh track. The humor really matches the campiness of the movies (and I totally mean that as a compliment). Really fun stuff, man." 

 

 

So there you have it...another positive review. I guess my question is - What are you waiting for? Why aren't you ordering yet? Look to the right side of the page, see the store...click it and go buy!!!

Late Night gets some Love from Kristy Jett

Some mornings it's so nice to wake up and have someone recognize what your doing as a Positive. Today, I woke up to Kristy Jett's post about the Tv show and the crew behind it. I am truly flattered that someone like her took a few minutes to give us a shout out.

For those who don't know Kristy (can't believe anyone out there doesn't know about her) she is one of the most kind and nicest people you will ever meet, seriously. She is the editor for The Blood Sprayer, she is a contributing writer for numerous sites like Fangoria, Dread Central, Ax Wound Magazine and works for the coolest Horror based T shirt company - Fright Rags. She is all over the net and has a passion for horror and is truly talented. 

She had a few things to say about our show - Speaking of Dimension, "Not only was he as friendly online as he was in person, but he also had a gang of equally awesome cohorts flanking him. This included his beautiful wife, and his two adorable kids. Not to mention the sexified John Cannon and the terrifyingly awesome sexpot known as Pigamortis Wrex."

"She continued with "The latter two help to run the Latenight Horror Hotel with Dimension. The Latenight Horror Hotel is a Horror host show that runs on public access in Philadelphia. However you can get episodes on dvd! And you should! I laughed more than 20 times in the one episode I watched."
