Becoming static.

Becoming Static - You have to wonder: who reads what we write? You post something online, where it remains forever, but who stumbles upon it? Who feels like you do?

The flood of social media platforms allow people to share opinions, creativity and anything that is on their mind. Who see's it? I've noticed that these same forms we all enjoy to share our opinions are the same platforms that are making us static. Clever status' with opinions used to drum hits, them meme's, then videos...whats next? Does anyone read or do we want to just watch?

We all have become self entitled and empowered. Social media has made us this way. We can praise a movie, tweet our bad meal experience, share or latest moment or jot down something that makes us wonder. Is this same self entitlement going unnoticed now? Are we just becoming background noise?

Lately, I've been having these thoughts of deleting it all and going bad into the stone age. I already cut out watching the news. I try to avoid the hype or paranoia that the media creates, but I wonder if social media is seeping into our minds, creating the same paranoia.

When you post something...maybe we make it mean something instead of sharing each and every moment. Maybe we need to live in that moment instead of thinking others care. Maybe they don't.

I have been adding a static TV to my films lately, as I feel it speaks volumes as what we've become.

How to handle yourself on social media

How to handle yourself on social media

Here we are, another day of discussing the every changing world of social media. I often try to help others that are looking to advance themselves on how to handle themselves on all forms of social media. This is a reoccurring problem for many and can even result in losing a potential advancement in your career.

First, lets be honest, you need to know how to promote things properly. When promoting, you have to  understand, it can't be all about YOU. There are ways to promote your site, your happenings and even events you are attending or preforming at. Let's look at 2 examples of the same point, with different approaches:

The wrong way - "Great shit tomorrow. Come see me at _________. I'm gonna tear it up. Lets fuck stuff up"

The right way - Tomorrow, can't wait for __________. Should be a blast and hoping you will join me. Details ______________."

Now, you might say, come on Rob, who talks like the 1st example? Look around, it's everywhere. Learn humility and the proper way to speak. No one wants to follow an idiot or support one. Sure, the argument can be made that many stars are less than stellar, but become a leader, not a follower. Learn that people will follow positivity, as long as you are sincere in your attempts.

The world wants information. Your friends and followers want to be lead and, in most cases, they want to be supportive. You just have to give them the opportunity and be the example, be the leader. I often try to be as civil and as positive as I can be when representing myself online. Remember, you might get one time to make that 1st impression and you want to build a fan base. Make sure you support others, the support will be returned to you.

Other things to avoid? Trolls!! Oh man, I could write a huge blog about how to "fight the good fight" but in almost all cases, it's not worth it. On Twitter, I have made it a habit to block people, almost daily. The internet is full of people who will criticize you, if you're in the public eye, get used to it. Be better, block and move on. Have I gotten in heated online battles? Of course...but does it ruin my day? No. Honestly, it just could turn others off and in the long run, its not worth it.

So there you go....what did we learn today? Don;t make it about you, support others and stay positive.  Thanks for reading and enjoy your day! Remember, before you click update, think "would I follow me?"

Social Media Changes

Social Media Changes

Hey guys, Rob here with some useful info on how you should change the way you handle your social networking. Back in January I shed light on how Facebook would change its algorithm on your "fan pages", plus your own personal pages. I'm here to, hopefully point you in the right direction when it comes to getting the most out of your online experiences.

First, Facebook and Twitter is a free service...key word there is free. You should NEVER rely on anything free, nor should you complain when they take something away from you. Sure, does it suck to have to pay to stay in contact with people and stay undated with pages you like? Yes. Does it stink that now, as a page owner you must spend money to reach your fans or help spread the word about a project or show? Yes. This is your wake up call. This is reality.

You know when you're a child and you hear "Nothing in life is free"? It's the truth. If you operate a business, make movies, are a wrestler or whatever you do and you do not have a website or other means to stay in contact with your followers and you're relying on a free service that can be taken away at any minute...you're playing with fire. Let's be serious, if you don't have a website and you do anything that requires one, you need to rethink your business anyways. Potentially losing it all at the drop of a hat based on your Facebook page reach and trying to get something for nothing would only last so long.

Even lately on my personal Facebook page I've noticed the algorithm has become worse than it once was. My reach was worse based on thinking "more friends means more reach". Thats a flawed idea...I'll explain:

The more "friends" you have on your Facebook page means more variety of people that your message is going too. Its like Throwing shit on a wall, and seeing what sticks.  You have to thin your friends list down in order to reach the people who matter. Not everyone on your list cares about you, they might have the same philosophy that you do. It's wrong. I would rather pitch my product to 800 people who will, for the most part, see it. Plus, I would know these are the people who care about what I'm doing.

So, the moral of the story...clear out your friends list. Stay in contact with those who you want too..and it's time to, once again, change the way I market things. If YOU would like to stay in touch, please, fill out the email option at the top right side of this page. I will start using the email option a little more to stay in contact better. Also, please feel free to follow me on Twitter at @RobDimension or on Instagram @RobDimension also. Thanks for reading.

Random Thought of the day.... Twitter Verified

4/29/13 Thought

Maybe I should start using this blog for more randomness or thoughts for the day than just semi thought out plans.

Somethings really bother me...now I know you're gonna say; "Rob..you're such a pleasant guy...what could be so troubling?"

The newest trend of people wanting to be "Twitter Verified". Sure, I like to tell people I'm some sort of a Social Media Guru, but let's be honest...I really don't know shit. I just know what I think is sad and pathetic.

Begging to be "Verified" is an outright cry for being "accepted" or "validated". Let's look at why verification is really done on Twitter. Sadly, someone like Tom Cruise (as an example) wants to set up a Twitter, yet, some lonely, impersonating turd already stole his user name. How pathetic can you be to portray someone else online? Are you serious?? The biggest problem is that people just aren't happy being themselves...instead of wanting someone else's life, please close your laptop, get out of your house and meet people.

Please, please, please...indie filmmakers, movie reviewers and anyone else who feels they are need to be told that they are someone...look in the mirror and just be happy with who you are. As I've said - Worry about the followers you have, not the ones you don't.

TvLand kicks it to the Curb

TvLand kicks it to the Curb

This past weekend, TvLand started to run the Larry David sitcom show, Curb Your Enthusiasm. For me, it's crazy that after 8 seasons, this show will grab an entire new audience. Those that loved Seinfeld, will love this show too.

Being a Seinfeld fanatic, once HBO originally announced Curb, being helmed by Seinfeld creator Larry David, it was a must watch for me. On Seinfeld, the character George Costanza was written around Larry David, even though the show itself was a basis of some of David's real life escapades and adventures.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is part sitcom, part improv and part sheer craziness. The Larry David character has no filter, can't let things go and has a constant problem with being in the middle of a bad situation. I guess the genius of the show is it's not that far from reality. We all hate lending items out, we tend to lack social skills and we all handle things badly at times...well, that's what is typically premise for each 30 minute episode. From have a "Pants Tent", that your Wife's best friend thinks is a boner to a reunion of sorts for the cast of Seinfeld. Larry takes in a family misplaced from Katrina, his marriage to Cheryl has ups and downs and his professional life meet issues with his manager, Jeff, his wife Susie, his friends and his celebrity run ins are always awesome.

Now, with that being said, this show will not cater to everyone. Yes, plus being on TvLand, the show at times, is edited but nothing that you can't look past. For me, it's still funny and to relive the series makes late night battles with insomnia, not so bad. The show is on most last nights (set your dvr) usually 11pm or later, but it's well worth a watch.

The show is currently on hiatus from it's new season, scheduled to be rumored for a shooting start in the Fall. The seasons are all available to purchase for usually around $20-$25 and have a high re-watchability. So, if you're watching late at night, make sure you tweet to @TvLand and Me and use the hashtag #CurbYourEnthusiasm and let's talk!

Facebook; Do's and Do Not's! Part 2

Facebook; Do's and Do Not's!
Part 2

We are back for another weekly dose of "Social Media Etiquette. It is I, the King of Social Media, Rob Dimension who will guide you through the rights and wrongs of connecting, staying connected and not being a nuisance.

If you are lost already, let me refer you to my past blogs about social media success:

We are now going to look at common courtesy to keep the friends you have made. You've made friends but the key is, too keep them.

Humor - Oh boy, where do I begin with this one? Social Media is basically an "Open Mic" session for everyone who feels the need to steal a joke (Hack), add some en-lighting comment that your day would be shit without, or even show their charm by adding some sexual innuendo to your already shitty day. Not everyone is funny, yet 99% off your social media feed attempts "the funny". Most times your humor is just that...YOUR humor. Posting witty banter on people's post's, especially on their "Wall" almost always seems to be an eye roller or a sigh for the person who has to get the countless notifications from their unfunny friends.

Rule of thumb, use your comedy on YOUR OWN WALL. If your joke is in your feed, no one can complain. I mean they can, but rightfully, they can simply click the "Unfriend" button. I never mind anyone using that option.

Honestly, how many friends do I have on Facebook? About 3,000...by my calculations, that's about 2,995 too many. I have a very close circle of friends but I'm an attention whore so I friend everyone...hey, at least I'm honest.

Let's recount the Humor rules - No stealing jokes...this is a HUGE no-no. If you can't be funny without stealing someone else joke, then pass. You're not fooling anyone. Also, refrain from adding your unfunny 2 cents from people's walls. I know it's tempting..I know you have the perfect "that's what she said" spot...just pass on it. If someone is in your Facebook friends list is guilty of this often, first, show them my site...I need the hits, then just click "unfriend". Trust me, Facebook is a fake friendship builder anyways.

Awful idea..don't do it!

Tagging of Photos - Holy hell, this is a BIG pet peeve of many. Ok, we met, we took a picture, you want to tag it..awesome, I like that. I enjoy seeing my picture, I'm very egotistical (although mostly, I just bitch about how fat I am). What really bothers me is being tagged in photos that A) I'm not in. B) I have nothing to do with, even though you think I'll appreciate it...trust me, I don't. And C) That is some spammy type sales gimmick, usually sneakers. I only wear Adidas Superstar shell tops (Run DMC style) so unless it's a promotion for cheap people to get me a free pair, not interested.

The above picture is a good example of things to NOT tag people in. I don't care if you think I'm sexy, dumb, or super smart (My Mom has told me 2 of those 3). Let's use our brain people, do you really want this dumb shit on your wall? Or even worse, have to hunt through your photos to find pictures of the real you? No one appreciates this things, except old cat ladies who also enjoy enjoy dressing their cats in costumes according to season.

I appreciate meeting people, I like to remember those times..(mostly) and seeing those pictures. I don't enjoy seeing myself tagged in photo's of CM Punk with a headline "What will WWE do now?" (I honestly don't know, don't care). I don't care where your Wrestlemania seats are, unless you bought me a ticket. No one else cares either...that's the truth.

Let's refresh Tagging Pictures on Facebook - Do NOT do it! Unless it's an actual picture of that person, don't do it. Best rule to follow.

The Birthday Wish - the Birthday wish on Facebook has become an important factor in "online friendships". It's someones Birthday and you want to wish it, awesome...I encourage you to do so. People like attention (including me) but I've seen a change in the Birthday wishes.

If someone doesn't wish you a Happy Birthday, your world will not end. Believe it or not, some people aren't on Facebook all the time...it's almost crazy to think that someone people have lives, work or even leave their house...I know, crazy. Worry about your real life friends, get a party started and get some gifts...or sit in your room, cry and eat ice cream (that's what I do).

This brings me too the next part of the Birthday wish - The generalized "Thanks to everyone who said Happy Birthday" or even worse...the "like". If your friend takes the time to write "Happy Birthday" plus maybe "Hope you have a great day" they have clearly taken the time out of their day to express their appreciation for you. Yet, you can't acknowledge it, but to send a general "thanks"? Total dick move. People always say, "well, it's the thought that counts...no reason to say thanks", you know as well as I do, if you've spent any time on Facebook that your friends are needy. You had better say "Thanks Tom, you're swell" and maybe include a smiley face or something. Trust me, Tom will then not be pissed when you tag him in a picture of your Cat, dressed as an elf.

The "like" - I've said this before, the like function on Facebook is the laziest form of interaction, the second is the Retweet on Twitter (yes, I do both, don't judge me). "Liking" the Birthday wish is a bit of a slap in the face. In other words, they can take the time out of their day to give you a nice gesture, writing it out, doing their homework and your response is one fkn click? Wow, some ego you have! Do the right thing, tell them - Thank you.

Let's Refresh "Happy Birthday" posts - If someone wishes you a Happy Birthday, don't be a smug, celebratory turd who is too busy opening up gifts, eating cake and enjoying your day with your family and loved ones...your Facebook friends want your damn attention too!

You're entirely welcome for this course, share with your friends, while it's free. Someday, I shall be standing in front of a classroom full of people that want to know, "How can I be popular?" Until then, follow me on Twitter RobDimension and keep checking back here for more tips that will help you survive.

Laughing at Death

Laughing at Death

As I sit at my desk, eating my morning eggs, glancing out the window at the beauty that is today, I can't help but wonder about death. We are all going to die, in fact each day we live cuts our life one day shorter...pretty nice morning thought huh? My question to you - How do you deal with death?

Comedian and Roast Master General, Jeff Ross has a good philosophy with death. Jeff often will say "Roast in Peace" using humor to help deal with the pain. Now, Jeff obviously isn't making light of anyone's life or death, he is simply helping people cope, sometimes it's a celebration of that person's life. Trust me, I'm not a comedian, I only act like one on Twitter...just like so many others.

Now you're playing with power!
This past weekend a Professional athlete commits suicide, but more importantly kills his girl friend. I'm only using this example because, it's fresh in my mind and now.... I've seen that the "Roast in Peace" style jokes apparently have a double meaning. While so many tweeted comments about the Team, I assume, they did simply because they didn't know this person so it made it ok...but, when someone they know passes away, that person is off limits. So, your friends and loved ones are off limits but others are ok....alright, now I see how it works.

Comedy...your a twisted bitch

If you follow me on Twitter, I often will wish death, almost daily on Steve Corino, while, in return, he does the same. To some, it's mean, malicious and downright awful, while to others, who are "in on the joke" know the type of friendship we have. In all honesty, we will try to one up each other yet, in real life, we actually text and have helped each other through some of our shittiest times in life. We use laughter as a therapy tool (btw...speaking of tools, he really is one) to help change our day, maybe get over a depression issue or even just to make each other laugh.

When dealing with death, everyone has their own method of mourning. Some look at pictures and remember the good times. Some will wear black and never re-marry or look at another man. (This is for my Wife, Kim..she better choose this way!!
Some turn to laughter. Sadly, we can not choose how others cope, or more importantly "who" will see or hear others opinions. Keep in mind, when choosing your own method, you can't make your own rules.

Comedy is not for cowards! (ok, maybe that's a lie...I'm a scared bitch) Stop Apologizing!!

Let me say this, the internet is yours, it's a power we have all grown to use for our own selfishness. For information, to stay in touch or even for some, to hate, grieve and laugh. I'm not condoning being mean or insensitive to anyone, but if you strike first...then you are left to suffer.

Need a laugh? Unfollow me on Twitter @RobDimension. Check back here every Mon-Fri as I will continue to write drivel and stuff no one cares about. Have a friend? Send them this way...I'm tired of eating alone.

Your Opinion and You!

Your Opinion and You!

All I could think of when I was writing out the title of this was, some 70's PSA commercial that I might have seen in Sex Ed class, except it was "Your Penis and You". Like I needed any help with that; I would've known my Penis by the 8th grade...trust me.

More than ever, it's easier today to share your opinion. Places like Facebook, Twitter, Yelp and countless other ways to "review" or "critique" a service, a film, a song or even a person, are now more dominate than ever before. You get bad service, no more writing a letter to the cooperate office. See a movie, love it or hate it...share your thoughts immediately after or even during to let people know "My opinion matters".

Is it me or has this "convenience" or "right" made people extremely negative? It's almost becoming a rare find to see someone post a positive review or not over analyze something. Maybe giving everyone a voice was a bad move...sometimes, one persons vendetta can really put a hamper on someones momentum.

This past weekend I took the Mrs. to see Life of Pi in theaters. A movie, going into, the only interaction I'd had with, was my two kids "not being fans of the book". When I saw the trailer I was blown away by the scenery, the visuals and the amazing beauty that was on the screen I was standing in front of, literally captivated. I was skeptical yet optimistic and went in with an open mind.

Let me say this before I continue, the very, very little bit of reputation I have within the Horror community was built on sharing my opinion. I was an eager film reviewer but I had a philosophy on reviewing people's work - If I had something positive to say, I'd say it....loud and clear. People who's work I loved, I shared with everyone. People who sent me their works of art to screen, if I wasn't a fan, no one would know I even watched it. I would remain silent. My thought process was this; negativity rules the Earth, from the daily news to people's everyday life. Wouldn't it be great to share a positive?

This weekend I witnessed a Twitter discussion between a movie reviewer and a few non-reviewers. I quickly realized that this "reviewer" believed his opinion ruled. I've heard others state "If you've never been to film school, you shouldn't review films." Another outlandish theory.

Look, I feel pretty confident that I could review a Hamburger, even without graduating from a reputable Chef school. I've eaten my fair share of Hamburgers in my lifetime...from the tasty to the sub par, but I'm not delirious enough to think my taste-buds speak for the masses. I like my Hamburger cooked a certain way, I like certain condiments on my Burger, yet that doesn't make my way, best.

With that being said, I'm at the movies, enthralled with Life of Pi, giving my eyes an orgasm (ok, maybe I didn't fully climax, but it was close) from the beauty I'm seeing. Proving that Ang Lee was one with the camera, and more importantly proving that beauty in the eye of the beholder. I'm sure, not everyone will share my sentiments about how amazing this film was. Visually, I was nearly brought to tears...this was a first for me. I had never seen anything, besides when I laid my eyes on my children, that moved me so much.

This is MY Opinion.

I encourage people to share their opinions..I know "It's our right!" I sometimes wish people would put more effort into raising their kids, working on themselves and being better humans than worrying about pushing their  Rights". Pick your battles people.

Let me leave you with this - If you believe your opinion is more important than anyone else's...my advice would be to never leave the computer and enjoy your delusional trip. People have all kinds of likes, I've seen films that are downright awful, yet they capture an audience.

Worry about those who support you, create for yourself and more importantly, spread some positive vibes...not everyone digs hate.

Facebook; Do's and Do Not's! Part 1

Facebook; Do's and Do Not's!
Part 1

A lot of people have commented to me about the "Key's to Being Successful in Social Media" article, I figured I would try to shed more light on some "Do's and Do Not's" from Facebook. Starting to wonder if I need to write a book on Social Media.

If anyone remembers Myspace; the carefree basic introduction for many to the crazy online connection service, it almost seemed like an easier place to "play". Connecting with friends, meeting new people online that share the same interests and of course, being spammed by 3rd rate bands that want you to "listen to our demo". It was a simpler world. In walks Facebook and the social media explodes!

As Facebook grew...and grew...and grew into the publicly traded failure, free social media leader that people continually complain about, things have changed, and with change..comes rules. Well, at least I think there should be rules.

Add as Friend - Oh yes, the ole' "Add as Friend" button that is the gateway to possible new friendships or rekindling of old flames. I just made it sound much more tempting and dramatic than it really is.

Everyone wants to make friends, but when clicking "Add as Friend" button, comes responsibility. New friends can be eager, but just how "relaxed" of a friend connection is too relaxed...or how eager are you? That's why I'm here people.

It's always polite to post, after making a friendship connection, "Great to meet you" on your new found buddy's wall, yet it almost seems a little too anxious and overzealous too me. If we meet in person, a possible hand shake might occur with a "Nice too meet you" in a casual discussion, so I still feel this is acceptable. Now, after having said that, please refrain from posting some "Nice to meet you" photo that comes off as generic or is, possibly sending some "I like what you like" message. Remember, you want to be liked, not being a regret on an acceptance.

Sending Messages -  Oh man, where do I start with this one....how about Politeness!

Let's say we have never met in person and maybe occasionally share a "like" on a photo; it's safe to say, being polite needs to be at the top of your list.

Let me say this, before continuing; I'm not really even a fan of the private message. Connecting is always good, maybe start off the message with "I hate to bother you". With starting off that way, you're already admitting to being a bother...that scores points with me.

Being blunt is always a turn off, seriously. "Like my page. (link)". Yes, I have received those messages. My reaction is to click on that person's profile and delete them. Trying to bully someone into "liking" something is rude plus, we have all heard Pee Wee Herman give a PSA about Peer Pressure....well, and crack.

Anyways, Who would I send a private message too? My rule of thumb is this: If we have never met in person, I don't see the reason to send a message. I will post on that person's wall instead; maybe a compliment, a casual remark or even a light-hearted pun (usually more like a smart ass comment...but you see it your way, I see it mine). Remember, the key to being successful is too be cool, not a nuisance.

I would say "Use your better judgement" but after opening my inbox, daily, I see that might not be the best option. If you have life altering news, by all means, inbox me...if you're plan is to say "Like my page"...pass and click "unfriend".

That's part 1 for Facebook Do's and Do Not's, I hope you have a great weekend and I'll see you online!

Obviously, I don't take any of the serious or consider myself any kind of professional.

Finding a groove - Satire

Finding a Groove - Satire

Sure, just like most adults in their early 40's, like me, we remember reading Mad magazine or having their subscriptions to Cracked. Getting our dose of satirical humor long before most of us even got the jokes. Hell, I remember one of the highlights of Mad was to fold the back cover to see something funny.

At the age of 8-13 what could I possibly relate too based on World issues or economic struggles? Seeing Mad make fun of Jimmy Carter because he liked jelly beans was funny...to an 8 year old, who also loved jelly beans.

Let's jump to 2012, I'm guessing that Mad magazine is still published. Alfred E Neuman is probably still taking jabs at the president, plus Hollywood's finest are still gracing the cover. It wasn't until just recently that I discovered my love for Satire, but it was hidden.

Twitter has made satirical writing much more easy; given us all "open mic night", if you will. Obviously, if you just read my "Keys to Social Media Success" you can tell, I don't take the social media or myself serious. I enjoy pointing out the obvious, making fun of things and people...especially Steve Corino. Watching the news; great way to see humor in things. Just today, I see that the 1st ever recipient of a Kidney Transplant finally died at the age of 93. Now, to some this might seem like a milestone for science, to me..an opportunity for a tweet:

"1st ever successful Kidney Transplant patient finally dies at age of 93...guess it wasn't that successful"

Sure some people will roll their eyes, while others will miss the joke and even some will point out the mean. I never like to be outright mean; tweeting to celebrities awful things is the new "hip" thing. I just don't do it...or at least..often.

I also have no problem making fun of myself...a lesson I learned in Professional Wrestling. Some of the best heels in wrestling made a legacy, pointing and laughing at themselves. Look at Bobby Heenan, a classic manager, who was serious when he needed to be but was also an amazing color commentator who added quick wit and satire to make others look better.

I am always the first to point out how awful my jokes are, how I tweet a line that gets no response or even pointing out what everyone else thinks. Last night, I tweeted:

"Ever been so proud of a tweet, sit idle, waiting for the RT's to hit...& then...Nothing?         That's what my day consists of. #Disappointment"

See, you know we have all thought "Man, I have the killer tweet...gonna kill!" We tweet it, wait and nothing. I'm not comedian..just follow me and you'll see that. I'm just a guy who read Mad magazine, thinks farts are funny and likes to point and laugh at the world. I have no idea why I wrote this today..motivation? Finding a groove? Wanting too share? No idea...just having fun I guess. Until tomorrow..follow me on Twitter @RobDimension - "I'll be here all week..order the veal."

Keys to Being Successful in Social Media

Keys to Being Successful in Social Media
by: Social Media Guru, Rob Dimension

Nearly a year has passed since I've updated this outline to help one be successful in social media. Twitter has become my main source of communication to many, as well as podcasting to the masses. My podcasting listener base (Between Monster-Mania Radio and The XOC Podcast, both available on iTunes and Stitcher Radio) have my voice being heard by 15,000 - 25,000 minimum, per week, combined. Now, too some, not that impressive, to someone who knows me, it’s dangerous.

Facebook has created too many hurdles to keep your audience in touch with you. “Promoting” your stories and losing the ability to be seen has made Facebook virtually useless. I notice I get a lot of the same people to comment which means a majority of people just aren't seeing the feed. I have found a small loophole in “pages” and getting “likes” but, that information comes with a price…..so no freebies here.

In today's Social Media, between Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Tout, Instagram and now even Klout (I have a 65 score, so I'm Influential and a bit of a leader...so listen up)it’s hard to stand out, be accepted and more importantly, be heard. Never fear, as I, the Social Media Guru, Rob Dimension is here to help you gain more followers, attract more friends and not be a doucher.

Let's get things straight, Girls will always be successful online because guys are horny and have no real sense of reality. Things like photoshop, eyeliner and boobs help their cause. As guys, we are grunts; we are slaves to our own penis. We lust women online, hoping for a follow, friend request or nip slip. Although, word to the girls, the duck lips pose is over, plus, taking photos of yourself in your bathroom, while the toilet is within the shot; big mistake…especially if there is a “turd in the punchbowl” (so to speak).

Let's get the terms NOT to use out of the way first:

Bro - for years, the term Bro was thought of as a friendly, brotherly term...well, as a Guru of the Social Media networks, I am here to tell you...it's awful. Being in the Professional Wrestling business, it's a term that is thrown around, from one to another to create this imaginary bond between each other. It does nothing. It doesn't make me like you, if anything; I makes me realize how shallow you are. I think of it as a condescending term...I loathe Bro. Do your friends, co-workers and anyone else that believes you are a smug asshole a favor...stop with the Bro. I have a fkn name..Use it.

Hun - ugh...let me be the voice of reason - You will NOT get laid calling a girl, Hun. Most Women, ok, maybe Women that have some dignity will think you're a tool for using the term Hun. If you are not 80 years old Grandmother who enjoys peanut brittle, you have NO business using the word. I have come to a conclusion, if you are a low life pervert who thinks he is above Women; this is the way you talk down to them. Have some self respect, if you use it...STOP..or if you're a female and a guy calls you that, stop them and remind them that you are not a cheap whore and they have 0 chance to get laid.

Welp - I jokingly "banned" this word on my highly intellectual podcast "The Extreme Odd Couple Podcast" found at http://www.xocpodcast.com/ but, in all sincerity I really meant it. Upon my investigation, it was supposed to shorten the word "well"...let's count letters...WELP is 4 and WELL is 4. In essence, I believe this word was handed down to as the 1st step to the downfall of mankind. Let's take a closer look; "Well, I really believe I like that shirt" does sound like you've made a decision and are sure about what you like. Now, "Welp, I really believe I like that shirt" sounds like you are 7 yrs old, live in Mayberry and possibly download kiddie porn.

Follows and Retweets!

Follows - Twitter is my social media of choice, as it makes life much easier. Facebook is clogged, glitchy and is the equivalent to what MySpace was with bands near their end. I hardly ever go on, unless someone posts on my wall, which I generally delete unless it's a compliment...(because I'm self absorbed, yet needy)

On Twitter, it's not uncommon for someone to ask "Can I get a follow?", which I usually respond with "No, but you can get a Block". While some think that's mean, I feel it's YOU, the begger, being a bit of a bully, making me feel less manly by feeling the need to give into peer pressure. Someone has to take a stand! I tend to look at my new followers (remember...I'm self absorbed) and see if they're legit, share interests and if they are Hot. Myself, I tend to follow my friends or people who I've met or even influences. Trust me, I'm no Mr. Popular but I'm content with what I have...I would be less depressed if I have 2,000 followers at the end of Feb, but I'm just being needy. Don't ask for Follows...don't be Dumb! #DUMB

Team Follow Back – a term and hashtag we have all grown to hate. First, let me explain the theory; people that use #TeamFollowBack usually don’t follow back, they are typically lonely assholes who like to spam everyone with their feeble attempt to gain more followers at your expense. I have instituted #TeamBlock, a hashtag I coined to “help fight the power”. I usually quote the tweet and respond with “BLOCK”, then proceed to block the sender and names attached. This helps eliminate any further tweets from these turds.

The “Interview”/Mass Tweeting No-No – From time to time, someone will want to promote themselves, their show or possible ask for an interview; this is ok, I have no problem with people reaching out to promote. My problem is when the tweet is a spam/mass mailing “Hey Bud, how about an interview for my website?” – You go to this person’s Twitter and notice A) they have 13 followers (Instant Red Flag). You quickly realize they have 0 reach and it’s a waste of your time. B.) They have sent this same exact Tweet to 45 others in front of you. This is wrong on every level…nearly as wrong as “buying followers” (discussed below). If you are genuinely in interviewing the person, take the additional few minutes, be polite and ask properly.

Retweet - The 2nd laziest feature in Social Media...right after the "Like" button on Facebook. NEVER ask for a retweet...EVER. This throws up the red flag to all around you (unless of course, I ask for one) that you are a Turd. No one wants to be a copycat...the retweet, in the simplest form, is a blatant copy. I've been labeled a "Retweeting Whore" on occasions but I also torrent music, so my bed is made. I'm here to shed light on Social Media problems, not fix mine.

Retweet's can be fun, especially when you're offered a compliment or in my case, an insult…hey, I don’t take it too serious. It allows your "friends" to see that you've fooled others. They obviously haven't read my guide or are new to Twitter. If you really want to make a statement, write a tweet; then let your friends decide if they want to retweet it. It's a new thing called Free Thinking. Hastag #RetweetWhore if your friend is guilty!

Buying Followers – Yes, this does exist and is the closest to “buying friends”. Followers can be bought: usually 1,000 for about $15-30 depending on where you go. Want to see if someone has bought followers? It’s easy to detect; go to their followers and look for people who have less than 8-10 tweets, follow about 1,000 people and have no followers. They usually tweet nonsense and typically have no picture or if they do, it’s very generic. Let’s keep in mind, Barack Obama has been accused of doing this, so has Mitt Romney.

The theory behind the fake followers – studies have proven, initially, the more followers you have, the more of a measure of success you have. People within entertainment with more followers, tend to be given a job over people with fewer followers. Are you a leader or a follower? The downside to this; followers do not equate purchases or sales, remember; these are fake. Plus, how much respect is lost when you are ousted as a “buyer”?
