Feel Safe? Me either!

The CT killings still have my brain in a haze, it was just senseless and awful on every level. I know I'm not alone in still being affected. I was watching the news yesterday and I have to wonder; how did it affect YOU?

Sure, reading through all the Facebook and Twitter timeline feeds, I can see a lot of people are extremely saddened by this, and rightfully so. I watched a Doctor yesterday discuss Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and how those that were at the school will suffer forever...but then he said something else "You can develop PTSD from watching the news".

Is the news responsible for creating fear? Have they crossed the line. I'm sure many will say that it's always been the case but I never heard a doctor openly say it.  Typically, this would be more recognized by war veterans but now, the war is on our own doorstep. How fearful are you? Are we all destined to live in fear?

  I'm not doctor, nor can I offer any advice but this...turn off the TV, hug your children and loved ones and go out for a walk. We are all affected by this. PTSD is extremely serious, if you feel you need to talk...find help. As someone who suffers from depression, I can say first hand, it can spiral out of control before you know it. Let's band together and put the attention where it needs to be...on the nuts that feel they need to make a statement. Try to have a great.

Tomorrow, I need to get back to writing dumb shit...this serious stuff is too sad.

As I sit at my desk, eating my morning eggs, glancing out the window at the beauty that is today, I can't help but wonder about death. We are all going to die, in fact each day we live cuts our life one day shorter...pretty nice morning thought huh? My question to you - How do you deal with death?

Comedian and Roast Master General, Jeff Ross has a good philosophy with death. Jeff often will say "Roast in Peace" using humor to help deal with the pain. Now, Jeff obviously isn't making light of anyone's life or death, he is simply helping people cope, sometimes it's a celebration of that person's life. Trust me, I'm not a comedian, I only act like one on Twitter...just like so many others.

Now you're playing with power!

This past weekend a Professional athlete commits suicide, but more importantly kills his girl friend. I'm only using this example because, it's fresh in my mind and now.... I've seen that the "Roast in Peace" style jokes apparently have a double meaning. While so many tweeted comments about the Team, I assume, they did simply because they didn't know this person so it made it ok...but, when someone they know passes away, that person is off limits. So, your friends and loved ones are off limits but others are ok....alright, now I see how it works.

Comedy...your a twisted bitch

If you follow me on Twitter, I often will wish death, almost daily on Steve Corino, while, in return, he does the same. To some, it's mean, malicious and downright awful, while to others, who are "in on the joke" know the type of friendship we have. In all honesty, we will try to one up each other yet, in real life, we actually text and have helped each other through some of our shittiest times in life. We use laughter as a therapy tool (btw...speaking of tools, he really is one) to help change our day, maybe get over a depression issue or even just to make each other laugh.  

When dealing with death, everyone has their own method of mourning. Some look at pictures and remember the good times. Some will wear black and never re-marry or look at another man. (This is for my Wife, Kim..she better choose this way!!) Some turn to laughter. Sadly, we can not choose how others cope, or more importantly "who" will see or hear others opinions. Keep in mind, when choosing your own method, you can't make your own rules.

Comedy is not for cowards! (ok, maybe that's a lie...I'm a scared bitch) Stop Apologizing!!

Let me say this, the internet is yours, it's a power we have all grown to use for our own selfishness. For information, to stay in touch or even for some, to hate, grieve and laugh. I'm not condoning being mean or insensitive to anyone, but if you strike first...then you are left to suffer.

OK, so now we have your attention...I'm always a fan of how much controversy arises about Real vs. Fake viral videos. YouTube, the monster video distributor that graces us with the funny to the dumb, to well, this little charm.

Take 4 minutes and watch this video.

OK, so you watched the video and now you're thinking "Rob, you bastard!!" That poor girl!" Calm down, it's just make believe. The above video is a short film titled "Exhibit B-5" from Newborn Pictures in California. I was completely blown away by this film, the realism and the freak chance it could be real.


Let's look at the facts people...YouTube will NOT condone or post anything that is real in regards to "snuff" of anything involving real death. Sure, we see these horrendous accidents, but we never know if those involved, actually die. I've watched Tosh.0 and actually seen a video where someone died from the result.


Do you feel cheated now? Here is some background on the film makers and those involved. Newborn Pictures (http://www.newbornpix.com) is operated by two very talented film makers Kyle Rankin and Efram Potelle. Regardless of anything posted about this...it's completely fake. My hat is tipped to these guys..seriously. They went above and beyond to make something seem so real that the Internet has written about this for nearly 2 years now, and here I am, still writing about it.

I think my love for this stems from being duped by the Blair Witch Project so many years ago. They elaborate set up by the film makers to fool us...you have to remember the internet wasn't anything like it is now. That was 1999 and the legend was out there, once I walked into the theater, they had me, hook line and sinker. I still classify the Blair Witch Project as one of the most inspirational films for me, it made "POV" film making (or Shaky Cam) a pivotal role in the Horror genre plus, even my favorite show "The Office" uses that filming style.

My advice for the day "Things aren't always as they seem".

No Clowning Around trailer releases

“…you can give in to depression or fight back”

Those are the words that I feel best can describe my battle with depression. About six months ago, I looked in the mirror and decided to make a change. My life was in a downward spiral and from that experience came; “No Clowning Around”. We can never win the battle against depression but, I believe, we can look into its eyes and face it, head on.

“No Clowning Around” is a Horror short film based on one man’s fall from grace. Ed, who once was beloved by his hometown as Mumbles the Clown, is now a party clown who battles depression and addiction. His last shed of light in his life is Trixie, who has struggles of her own. Being pushed from all sides, who and what will stop the endless spiral of sadness?

How did this come about?

Some might know me from Late Night at the Horror Hotel, Pro Wrestling, Monster-Mania Radio or the Extreme Odd Couple Podcast, but I really feel I developed the creative bug from reviewing movies. I’ve always loved the horror genre but I felt I wanted to be a bigger part of it. When you review movies, you expose other’s vulnerability but now, I’m the vulnerable one.

The last year I’ve learned that exposing my life can have a good affect on others. I had a rough battle with depression about a years and a half ago. Maybe it was my mid-life crisis, but home life was bad, I had no direction and from that, came this film project.

The film is personal for me, even though it’s extreme in relations, it’s still has plenty of metaphors to my own life. The process only took me about two days to write and once on paper; I knew this was the movie I wanted to make.

What is this NOT?

I'm glad you asked...this is NOT a Killer Clown movie. I've wanted people to know that from the start. There are plenty of Killer Clown films out there...like 100 Tears, Fear of Clowns, Killer Klowns from Outer Space or even Killjoy. While Ed is a clown, that's not the story. The story is about being pushed...and finally having a breaking point. Sometimes when your back is against the wall, you have no choice.

How did you chose who is involved?

I wrote about a 15 page treatment, kind of like a sketched out script, but just the basics. The first person I showed was my Wife, Kim. Kim and I have been together for over 21 years and it was important for me to make her the Trixie character. Once you see the film and I can relate the two, you will see why. She rehearsed countless days and worked very hard, it paid off.

The next person I wanted involved was Steve Corino. Corino is easily my best friend, from offering me a place to stay, to always being there when times were tough. We both helped each other during rough times..you know how misery needs company sometimes? Well, he’s my misery partner. The role of Lenny was his as soon as it was written. He took it extremely serious and made sure he was not the typical “wrestler in a movie” role. He’s believable.

Matthew Burd was the next choice, since his work on Late Night at the Horror Hotel; he proved his artistic vision to me on that project. I sent him the story and he wrote the screenplay and I could see the movie from his expressive script, I loved it immediately. Matt has included myself in several of his previous short films including Cuts Right Over that is making the rounds on some film festivals now. Matt and I worked great together and we each had ideas and it made for a smoother shoot. Very happy he wanted to be a part of it.

Sal Valente was a later addition to the project. I sent him the script and he loved it. Some will know Sal from his work as Pigamortis from our show. We have good chemistry, he’s funny and I knew he dug the project so it made perfect sense to have him aboard.

What can we expect?

We are aiming for a December release. It will be available on DVD, plus we will have a Limited to 50 VHS release. I will be focusing on Film Festivals and trying to have as many eyes on this project as possible. Debating on how well this is received, will lay out the future. Ideas are about a feature or a possible sequel short for “Mumbles”. I think that the character has enough oddity and is relatable to many that he has some likeability and a future.

I really want to thank those that have helped donate to make this possible. You truly made a boyhood dream come to reality. I also want to thank those that helped, our crew, those who offered advice and those who listened to me complain. It was a long four days, being on set for sixty hours, but I know it will be worth it. I’m proud of this.

Jon Bon Jovi claims Death Hoax was because of Boredom

It seems the media was hiding the real picture of Bon Jovi, trying to shelter Corino and Dimension's feelings. An anonymous source sent this to the #XOC Podcast headquaters and needless to say...Dimension was heard smashing his "Slippery When Wet" record and Corino cancelled his tribute fan page that he planned to dedicate to the Jersey native.

Shame on you Jon....

Hola, Action aficionados! ‘Tis I, resident Spider-Man scholar MARK MACKNER with a look at last weeks’ historic ACTION COMICS #894. 

Historic how? Well, this issue marks the very first appearance of NEIL GAIMAN’s character DEATH (from his SANDMAN series) in the regular DC Universe. Gaiman even makes a guest appearance on this issue, providing the dialogue for his adorable version of “The Grim Reaper”. 

This is not a standalone story. It’s actually Part 5 of an arc titled THE BLACK RING, where SUPERMAN’S arch-nemesis LEX LUTHOR has taken center stage as the main focus. The end of Chapter 4 saw the apparent demise of Lex, and this issue lets us in on what happens when Lex is faced with, well, Death. 

Death is as charming and good-humored as always, and it’s so very nice to see her again. I definitely got that feeling you get when you hang with an awesome old friend that you haven’t seen in a long time. And it’s really cool that they let Gaiman come in and write her, even though this isn’t his story. PETE WOODS’ pencils compliment the character well, rendering her striking beauty in every panel, lovingly detailed. 

Lex, well, as you could understand, is not very happy to be grappling with his own mortality. After all, he is a man on a mission, a mission that is not yet completed. So he goes through all the stages of grieving himself: disbelief (“You’re telling me Death is a teenage girl?”), anger (“You’ll regret this!”), sadness (“I feel… helpless. I CAN’T be helpless”), and bargaining (“What would it take for you to change this?”). But Lex, ever his defiant self, even in death, refuses to accept the situation. Even after witnessing his “Life Review”, featuring “lots of people fighting, and lots of people being clever.” Still, he’s not quite sold on this whole “being dead” thing. 

 In his rage, he even accuses Death of being involved with Blackest Night, to which Death replies, “Oh. Yeah. I noticed that. It looked like they were all having a great time. You know, people do come back from the dead. It’s not a big deal. I AM kind of busy.” She also politely states her resentment of Lex’s treating her “like a super-villain”. 

Through it all, Lex maintains his “misunderstood hero wrongly painted as the villain” position. And he does manage to evoke your sympathy here. You can’t help but feel a little sorry for the guy, as he’s so utterly convinced that what he does is for the benefit of mankind. Plus, he gets mad points from me for being a proud, outspoken atheist, which he describes.
