No Clowning Around WINS!!!!

No Clowning Around Wins at Macabre Faire Film Festival

Kim and Rob Dimension
This past weekend, Rob and Kim Dimension went to The Macabre Faire Film Festival in Long Island, NY. No Clowning Around was a nominated film in the festival and WON the Audience Choice award after a very successful screening on Saturday. The screening was standing room only and was well received.

Dimension had this to say "I'm blown away by this; the quality of films that were showcased this weekend were amazing. The festival was fantastic and we could not have been any happier."

Dimension noted that getting to meet some of his favorite Independent directors was one of the weekend's highlights. "Yeah, meeting guys like Scott Perry and Jeremiah Kipp was awesome. Two years ago I fell in love with Kipp's short film "Crestfallen" and it was great to sit down and talk with these guys, after they watched our film."

Matthew Burd and Dimension just couldn't have asked for anything better. If you haven't gotten your copy yet, visit www.NoClowningAround.com - plus, don't forget, No Clowning Around will be screening at Monster-Mania Con, March 8-10 in Cherry Hill, NJ. Details will be coming soon.

Independent Film maker, King "Do it yourself'er" Tom Berdinski checks out NCA

Independent Film maker, King "Do it yourself'er" Tom Berdinski checks out NCA

It's always an honor when another film maker reaches out to see your work. Tom Berdinski, to me, drew the blue print for how to release Independent films. He uses a modest budget and makes EVERYONE aware of his projects. I mean, who hasn't heard of the Italian Zombie Movie? When Tom asked me to see the film, I immediately sent out a copy.

He had this too say:

I thoroughly enjoyed "No Clowning around"! It's dark, uncomfortably funny and very-well acted and directed. The music, costumes and effects are also spot-on. I especially loved the shot variety - I think that's key in low-budget efforts: Keep the shots short and varied so no one dwells too much on the limitations necessitated by the budget. Everyone is clearly on the same page in this one - Something that's hard to do with a low budget. In my opinion, the only flaw was not making it feature length. There is a lot of back story here waiting to be explored... Maybe they'll make more? Let's hope so!

Special Thank you to Tom for taking the time, make sure you visit http://www.italianzombiemovie.com and support Independent film making.

No Clowning Around trailer releases

“…you can give in to depression or fight back”

Those are the words that I feel best can describe my battle with depression. About six months ago, I looked in the mirror and decided to make a change. My life was in a downward spiral and from that experience came; “No Clowning Around”. We can never win the battle against depression but, I believe, we can look into its eyes and face it, head on.

“No Clowning Around” is a Horror short film based on one man’s fall from grace. Ed, who once was beloved by his hometown as Mumbles the Clown, is now a party clown who battles depression and addiction. His last shed of light in his life is Trixie, who has struggles of her own. Being pushed from all sides, who and what will stop the endless spiral of sadness?

How did this come about?

Some might know me from Late Night at the Horror Hotel, Pro Wrestling, Monster-Mania Radio or the Extreme Odd Couple Podcast, but I really feel I developed the creative bug from reviewing movies. I’ve always loved the horror genre but I felt I wanted to be a bigger part of it. When you review movies, you expose other’s vulnerability but now, I’m the vulnerable one.

The last year I’ve learned that exposing my life can have a good affect on others. I had a rough battle with depression about a years and a half ago. Maybe it was my mid-life crisis, but home life was bad, I had no direction and from that, came this film project.

The film is personal for me, even though it’s extreme in relations, it’s still has plenty of metaphors to my own life. The process only took me about two days to write and once on paper; I knew this was the movie I wanted to make.

What is this NOT?

I'm glad you asked...this is NOT a Killer Clown movie. I've wanted people to know that from the start. There are plenty of Killer Clown films out there...like 100 Tears, Fear of Clowns, Killer Klowns from Outer Space or even Killjoy. While Ed is a clown, that's not the story. The story is about being pushed...and finally having a breaking point. Sometimes when your back is against the wall, you have no choice.

How did you chose who is involved?

I wrote about a 15 page treatment, kind of like a sketched out script, but just the basics. The first person I showed was my Wife, Kim. Kim and I have been together for over 21 years and it was important for me to make her the Trixie character. Once you see the film and I can relate the two, you will see why. She rehearsed countless days and worked very hard, it paid off.

The next person I wanted involved was Steve Corino. Corino is easily my best friend, from offering me a place to stay, to always being there when times were tough. We both helped each other during rough times..you know how misery needs company sometimes? Well, he’s my misery partner. The role of Lenny was his as soon as it was written. He took it extremely serious and made sure he was not the typical “wrestler in a movie” role. He’s believable.

Matthew Burd was the next choice, since his work on Late Night at the Horror Hotel; he proved his artistic vision to me on that project. I sent him the story and he wrote the screenplay and I could see the movie from his expressive script, I loved it immediately. Matt has included myself in several of his previous short films including Cuts Right Over that is making the rounds on some film festivals now. Matt and I worked great together and we each had ideas and it made for a smoother shoot. Very happy he wanted to be a part of it.

Sal Valente was a later addition to the project. I sent him the script and he loved it. Some will know Sal from his work as Pigamortis from our show. We have good chemistry, he’s funny and I knew he dug the project so it made perfect sense to have him aboard.

What can we expect?

We are aiming for a December release. It will be available on DVD, plus we will have a Limited to 50 VHS release. I will be focusing on Film Festivals and trying to have as many eyes on this project as possible. Debating on how well this is received, will lay out the future. Ideas are about a feature or a possible sequel short for “Mumbles”. I think that the character has enough oddity and is relatable to many that he has some likeability and a future.

I really want to thank those that have helped donate to make this possible. You truly made a boyhood dream come to reality. I also want to thank those that helped, our crew, those who offered advice and those who listened to me complain. It was a long four days, being on set for sixty hours, but I know it will be worth it. I’m proud of this.

No Clowning Around Diary 9-16 & 9-18

No Clowning Around Diary
Recap of 9-16 & 9-18

As I sit here today at 7:50am on a fall like Friday, I feel accomplished. Halloween II is playing in the background, my favorite time of year has finally arrived. I wanted to continue updating everyone with the progress of No Clowning Around....well, as of Tuesday night, September 18th at approx 9:56pm, we have wrapped on the film. So, what's next? The editing process...so stay tuned for a trailer...soon.

Sunday Sept 16th - Like the days before, we get to location at 8am and I start the make up process. I think I have it down to about 45 minutes or so now. The hardest part is knowing I will have to put on the make up, remove it, then put it on again...it really kills your skin.

The weather was fantastic, this worked out perfectly and allowed us to finish shooting the entire day outside. As you can see by the picture on the left, not everyone will enjoy this movie...the longer we shot this film the more we, most of the cast and crew, started to wonder what we were making...haha.

Matt (Co-Director, Matthew Burd) and myself just worked flawless together. We had a great idea of what we wanted to shoot, how we wanted to shoot it and we were flowing. Like I mentioned before, it's hard, with a small cast, small crew as you kind of have to do everything yourselves. Matt and I have said several times, we had a great crew and we are thankful for everyone that helped bring this together.

We attracted some attention while shooting some scenes and had to deal with a few people passing by, then we had a group of neighborhood kids that I supplied all with posters, just for staying out of the way and being great. I'm always a fan of the random drunk coming up and not hesitating to get "in the shot" just to find out "what's going on?". I mean it seems like the right thing to do, when you walk into a car crashed into a building, being driven by a drunk clown...right? Exactly! haha.

Taking a break, discussing our next move

This was a good day also because I had a good friend, Sal Valente on set. Some might know Sal as the man behind Pigamortis on our Tv show Late Night at the Horror Hotel, while others might know him as "Big Sal" from ECW. He was the highlight of that show for me to work with....he was focused on getting it done. I can't get into a lot of details on what Sal did for the movie except, we have real good chemistry together and he is funny as hell. Sal was a trooper and hung the entire day, which was nearly 15 hours long!!

What I really liked was as the night began to roll in...my mood changed and it was time to focus on a downward spiral of the character. As Matt shot from behind the lens, he was freaking out..."Holy shit" and "Wow" as I crept around the outside of "Lenny's" house. I really enjoyed this stuff.

Tuesday Sept 18 - Ah yes, my Birthday and the wrap day. Kim and myself we short on sleep and credit to her, she did everything asked the entire shoot and supporting me all day long. We get up at 4:30am and we are on the road by 6am.

Originally, when I scheduled this final day to be on my Birthday, I didn't take into account that I would be gone all day long and not see my kids. I felt awful when I got home at 11:30pm too see they walked in the rain 6 blocks each way to bake me a cake and I wasn't home for it. They are awesome and I love them a ton, they understand that I had to be away, but it still stinks.

Anyways, the weather on this day...AWFUL!! We have one particular scene that we needed to reshoot and it rained both times making it a little difficult. Mother Nature hates me!!

Now, let me let you in on a little something...during this scene I need to eat an 8 in round cake...and this is the Second time in a week of having to do so. As we are filming the scene, I look over at the sink and I'm debating on throwing up as I'm filled with cake...don't want anymore, don't want to see anymore...DONE...haha. Matt and the crew LOVE this scene as my grossness makes them happy. Plus, I get to wear my elephant trunk...wait until you see this! Honestly, I loved what we captured the second time around.

Moving forward to the next location, I contacted my homeboy Steve Corino, as this day would be his death scene!! Steve was fantastic this entire shoot...seriously, he had an idea of who his character was and really pulled it off..I love the guy. I'm telling you, what he had to go through scarred him for life...he sat, dealt with it and was a true professional. My hats off to him. We had to make some last minute changes to the special effect due to a timing issue, but honestly I'm extremely happy with what we got.

As Trixie, Peepers and Mumbles sat on the sofa to close out the final shot of the film, I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear...it was a wrap! As the crew started to clean Bill's house (Thanks Bill...hopefully we didn't wreck it too bad) we brought out the Its a Wrap cake (yeah, more cake!! haha) and everyone had some...yes, even me.

Thank you to all who donated, helped and shared the progress of this dream. You made my dream a reality!

Special Thanks to Matthew Burd - you sir, are a professional!

Bill, Patti, Chris and Nanette - you guys were all fantastic and Patti, I owe you a shirt for coming through with the last minute help on the final S/FX!!

Brian Mitchell - Thank you for the art work and all you've done

Dave Hagan - Seriously, the pep talks you gave me helped me tremendously.

Sal - Dude..you popped me the entire day. Thank you!

Steve Corino -  that part was yours from the moment I wrote it. Couldn't be happier you were involved!

And finally -

Kim - let's face it...without you, there would be no me. On Sunday we celebrate Twenty One years together...you are the reason I breath and I owe you more than I can ever tell you. I love you.

Thanks guys for reading and following along this long 4 day, 60 hour shoot schedule. It was intense, but I'm already looking forward to the next one.

Love,
Mumbles the Clown!

No Clowning Around Diary - Day 2

No Clowning Around Diary
Day 2

Co-Director Matt Burd gives "Mumbles" some direction

Wow...that's what I'm thinking as I sit here, 5:30 in the morning, after only getting 5 hours of sleep after filming our second day of shooting "No Clowning Around".

This time around, I decided to give "storyboarding" a shot, instead of a shot list. As I explained last entry, I felt a bit overwhelmed with acting, directing plus all of the other things that go along with a filming, especially with a small, intimate crew. Matt Burd, stepped up our first day, this time I wanted to really be prepared...yesterday, from a directing stand point, Matt and I were in sync. We were on the same page and we both had great ideas that really came together as we shot for nearly 13 hours yesterday.

Kim Dimension is abused!

Our crew, Nette, Patti, Chris and Bill are just fantastic. They are always there early, never complain and always go above and beyond...without them, we couldn't be relaxed enough to focus on what we need too....they are saviors. Couldn't do it without them.

Yesterday also marked the first day of shooting for my Wife, Kim and of course, my pal, Steve Corino. Kim had a full day of filming, plus her scenes where extremely tough and ranged from wearing miserable contacts to nearly being poked with a real needle. She was a trooper...I will get more into my emotional roller coaster with her in a few.

Corino showed up ready too work yesterday. Regardless of your opinion of the guy, regardless of your opinion on Pro Wrestling...Steve Corino WAS his character yesterday. He was fantastic. He knew his lines and believed in them...I can speak for both Matt and myself and say "We were honored to be a part of what we saw yesterday from Steve." I was blown away and think everyone who sees this movie will be too. I'm sure we will discuss some of what happened on the XOC Podcast this week. I have one more day of shooting with him, I really can't wait.

Dimension, Burd, Corino

Now, what happened on set yesterday will be ingrained in my brain forever. Often when we write something I'm not sure if we think all aspects through. When you write a scenario that puts a loved one in a position that you NEVER want to see...and that loved on pulls it off flawless...it's both a bad vision yet a thing of beauty. I know I'm being vague, but for those on set yesterday, they know how affected I was by the filming of a certain scene...I was brought to legitimate tears. I openly wept...I was overcome with emotion and the camera captured it all. Kim, I love you with all my heart.

I really felt relief after filming...I finally felt like I belonged, I felt accomplished, even if for just that one day. I have that memory of filming...I'm proud of what we did. Pre orders for this DVD and Limited Edition VHS (Limited to only 40) will be available starting in October with a December release.

No Clowning Around Starts Shooting!!

No Clowning Around Start Shooting
Update for Sept 5th

Yesterday marked the start of principle shooting for my First short film, No Clowning Around. The film is my first attempt at writing a short, I will also be co-directing with Matt Burd, whom I've worked with before. I figured I would keep an online diary of sorts documenting the progress with both the good and the bad, hoping you enjoy the ride along the way.

Call time is 8am - Now the weather was a concern for the first day, since we were dealing with the remnants of tropical storm Issac. We started off with some sprinkles and overcast, we were able to grab the necessary shots from outside that we wanted too except some interactions that we can simply pick up on a light day of shooting we have scheduled. Later in the day, the rain got much, much worse, making filming a bit more problematic, so much so, we could hear the rain on the roof and were forced to hang tight while the storm passed.

Yesterday also marked the first time I worked with a child on set...haha. It provided laughs and she did fantastic. Kids are so cute and make simple comments that are purely genuine. She practiced and knew her lines, but the curiosity of a 4 year old staring a clown, drunk in a bath tub created some fun. After watching some of the daily's, I was very happy.

Directing while starring in the film...oh boy, where do I start with this one? When I worked with Matt before, it was either our stint on Late Night at the Horror Hotel or one of his films, the last one being "Cuts Right Over", all of those experiences worked out great. This time, Matt and myself agreed to co-direct this film...but let me be the one to say, It's tougher than I could have imagined to act, direct and worry about the entire production end including things like food for the crew, remembering props or even simple clean up...every little thing. Matt is doing so good, he is prepared and always asks my opinion, even though, I'm sure he knows what looks great. Perfect professional, I really see big things for him. The crew we have is absolutely fantastic, always there when you need them...so giving. I couldn't ask for anything better. Love them all!

I'm convinced, after waking up with blue eye liner on my eyes, the smell of frosting in my nose and the stress factor looming over my head all means we are doing the right things. Next day we shoot is Sept 9th, that day is completely a full day of shooting, from sex, to death to a fight. Kim makes her way on set, plus Corino makes his acting debut..I'm so excited for that day. It will be draining but after its done, it will be great to look back and feel the same as I do today.

You can still help fund the project at www.NoClowningAround.com and also follow the progress on Twitter RobDimension - "Come to Daddy!!"

Demon Divas and the Lanes of Damnation review

Demon Divas and the Lanes of Damnation

"They might just bowl you over" (ok...lame...sorry)

I just love movies that remind me of my puberty days, late night's watching Rhonda Shear...oh, some great nights there. I am a sucker for Shot on Video, think of titles like Woodchipper Massacre and Video Violence....that's what Demon Divas made me feel like I was watching....and trust me, that's not a bad thing.

Released by Happy Cloud Pictures, written and directed by Mike Watt, Demon Divas (I will shorten the title a bit) pays obvious homage to Sorority Babes at the SlimeBall Bowl-A-Rama including even having very similar characters...believe me, I'm not complaining because I am not alone in missing these types of movies. Lead by some of the BEST in Scream Queens like Brinke Stevens, Debbie Rochon, Amy Lynn Best and Lilith Stabs you can expect fun and well...more fun.

We find out that the local bowling alley, Coventry Lanes has been purchased by a group of females. Hiring some of the less than popular young ladies in town, once the snobs show up and show their true colors...things escalate to Evil. I found that this was the perfect film to sit back and just enjoy. Plenty of boobs, a Hunk and some down right fun special effects make this one to look for.

I can't be alone in my forever love for Brinke Stevens. She can hold your attention while on screen still, plus just always looks sexy when she is "bad". Plus when you bring together some of the hardest working women, seriously, on the Independent's...you are destined to enjoy what is happening on screen. Someone I hadn't seen before Sofiya Smirnova, did a great job and should be in more films (just my 2 cents).

Big props to Mike and Amy for doing what they enjoy, making movies with who they like and just having fun. I was lucky enough to speak with them and find out more about the happenings with Happy Cloud and their intentions....they are super. For me, it's like being 16yrs old, staying up until 1am enjoying the fun, silly horror films with the bonus of naughty.

Fell - Relationships Can Bring you Down

Fell
 Directed by Marcus Koch
(co-written by) - Katie Walters
co-writer - Kristian Day
co-writer - Jeff Dylan Graham

Reviewed by : Rob Dimension

The more I review films, the more attracted I am to Artistic films. Films that play mind games and make you think. Take away the generalized ideas of Horror, the misuse of nudity, the over use of gore...I want Substance!!!....after sitting and letting this film sink into my mind....I really enjoyed this one.

Fell is the story of Bill (Jeff Dylan Graham) and his problems. Shot with a darker tint, a somber feeling is felt through out the entire film. Bill wakes up with a body in his bath tub, who is she...where did she come from? As this story unfolds, we see Bill is a bit unbalanced....not in a demented, serial killer way...just a product of manic depression and prescription drugs.

I will not spoil this story for you, I will only give my opinions and observations. Fell is not a film for everyone, those really looking for Horror will not find that here. It's a simple concept that twists and turns as Bill falls deeper into his delusions. The acting is very good, Graham does a great job of portraying Bill, it's believable.  The script is good but I feel that the movie is a bit too long, there was a little section in the middle that could have been trimmed. I will say the stand out, for me is the mind games...the games this film plays on YOU, the viewer. Not M. Night crap...this is good, wholesome story telling...it left me wondering if I saw what I saw or if I should head to the shrink, myself.

When this film is available, I highly recommend looking for this one. It is fantastic to watch, you enjoy riding someone's delusions. It was nice to take a break from my problems and enjoy Bill's.

Blood Bath 2 Film Festival - November 13th & 14th

Blood Bath 2 Film Festival

DOA Blood Bath Entertainment proudly announces Blood Bath 2: The Film Festival at the historic Texas Theater in Dallas, Texas on November 13th and 14th, 2010.  The film festival is a celebration of independent horror cinema showcasing feature and short films from around the world.

The festival is the world premiere for the feature films, KODIE and THE SUPER and the American premiere of feature film FELL.

KODIE, filmed locally in Dallas by Abel Berry and Jennifer Stone, tells the story of David, a paranormal investigator, who has come to a point in his life where everything he cares about is being ripped away in domestic turmoil. He soon finds himself and his team caught in a world of a murderous little girl named Kodie in the form of a teddy bear.  Many of the cast and crew will be in attendance for a Q&A following the film.

THE SUPER, directed by Brian Weaver & Evan Makrogiannis, shows us the twisted mind of George Rossi, who immigrated to the US and served in the Vietnam War and is now employed as the superintendent of a Queens apartment building. He finds himself quickly slipping into a depraved world that is fueled by the tenants of the building.  It does no good to lock your doors because The Super has the keys.  The producer and directors of THE SUPER will be in attendance.

FELL, directed by Marcus Koch and starring Jeff  Dylan Graham, "is a challenging, relentless exploration of psychological turmoil, the fragility of the human mind and a startling depiction of tragic mental breakdown that evokes memories of Polanski’s Repulsion”, says James Gracey, ‘Behind the Couch’.  Marcus Koch and Jeff Dylan Graham will be in attendance.

Other feature-length selections include Houston filmmaker Mel House’s WALKING DISTANCE, which recently world premiered at the Dallas International Film Festival and marks the return of Adrienne King (FRIDAY THE 13TH) to film; Canadian twins Jen and Sylvia Soska’s DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK, which has become an underground cult fan favorite while winning many awards at festivals all around the world; and Adam Minarovich's EXHIBIT A-7, which won the XRISTOS Award for the Best Guerilla Film at the Action On Film International Film Festival and stars Robert Pralgo (THE VAMPIRE DIARIES)..

Featured short films include BY HER HAND SHE DRAWS YOU DOWN, WAFFLE, THE WRITER, SCREAM QUEEN, LIP STICK, READY TEDDY, THE GUEST, DISPATCH, BITS AND PIECES, and RED AND THE WOLF. Also included in the line up will be the top 9 short films from the recent “make a short film in a weekend competition” Splatterfest in Houston.

Debbie Rochon (COLOUR FROM THE DARK, WALKING DISTANCE), Reggie Bannister (PHANTASM, WALKING DISTANCE), and many other actors and filmmakers will be in attendance at the screenings, and audiences are encouraged to participate in the Q&A panels as well as cast their votes on their favorite films. An awards ceremony will take place on Sunday.

The festival will run all day on Saturday and Sunday, with an after party on Saturday night at the local bar Muddy Waters with special musical guests Jack O’Hara Harris, The Lash Outs, and The Whiskey Folk Ramblers starting at 10 PM. Tickets are $7 per feature-length film, $15 per day, or $25 for the weekend. They will be available for advance sales online or at the door.

For out-of-town attendees, the official hotel of the festival is the Belmont Hotel (www.belmontdallas.com), with special room rates starting at $79 and a free shuttle to transport guests from the hotel to the Texas Theater.

Tickets, trailers of the films, and more information can be found at doabloodbath.com.

The Poughkeepsie Tapes reviewed - "Hey Mom...look what I found!!"

The Poughkeepsie Tapes

Reviewed by: Rob Dimension

I have been waiting to see this one for a while now, I felt it delivered. Being stuck in the unreleasable hell of Hollywood, I am really lost as to why they would fear the release of this film. It certainly is not a film that is too shocking or too brutal….it just adds another twist to the lost/found footage angle. I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of Faux-snuff films....after all, I have sat threw all of August Underground trilogy, watched The Murder Collection and countless others from the sub genre of Horror.

Plot Synopsis - In September 2001 the Poughkeepsie Police Dept. discovered over 800 video tapes that contained horrific and brutal images uncovering the story of one of America's most disturbing serial killers to date.

This film follows the before and after events of a sadistic, brutal killer who abducts children to adult females in the Poughkeepsie, NY area. Playing brutal, demoralizing games before ending each victim’s life, This madman increasing his toying with Police and see's how far he can push the envelope. Our killer has one particular victim that you see more of, her name is Cheryl Dempsey. I actually felt for this character, such a great role she plays. Even through the end of this film you really witness REAL affects of abduction and torture.

The mixture of Police, Doctors and Eye Witnesses footage are a great mix to add to this story. The found footage is very grainy and uneasy to watch at times, simply due to the mind games he plays. Preying on children is a touchy area, they do this perfect. The special effects are few and far between, but what they show…works. It comes across more real than many of the same simply because of how the family members describe the fear….to me this is what REAL horror really is. Imagine your 8 yr old daughter playing out front of your house and this guy takes her….simply because he can.

If anything, my opinion is that this film brings real life into the mix. More like something you would watch as a docu-drama or on an episode of Law and Order SVU. The killer is found out near the end as someone you would trust, which makes this subject even worse. I hope this film see’s a release sooner or later, as of now, still, it has no official date of release is scheduled.

In the modern world, a world where the news is the most terrifying thing on TV, the Poughkeepsie Tapes works. It works because we all have heard a story similar to this one, we have all witnessed the after effects…we all pray that this never happens to us. No one wants to have the last memories of their image left on a VHS tape, found in some scum bags closet.

Jingles the Clown review - Are you scared of a little ole' Clown?

If you love to scare the crap out of your friends with a movie about a psychotic killer clown who just won’t die then this film is for you! If you have a deadly fear of crazy ass psychopathic clowns, well then, you’re out of luck. Lots of people take the risk of making horror movies about clown’s killer clowns to be specific. It is not an easy thing to pull off in the genre. The most people can do is take a swing at it and hope the hit it just right unfortunately most fail but hey it’s worth a watch half of the time.

Mr. Jingles was a child entertainer who turned into a murderous serial killer clown. He would take his victims to his house to torture them and then murder them. Well, one day, he took Angela and her family back to this house. One by one, Angela is forced to watch her family slaughtered. Luckily for her, the police come just in time to shoot the mad clown down before he can kill the poor little girl. Using magic movie stuff, it is now years later and the Jingles places is said to be haunted by the spirit of Mr. Jingles. He still murders any unsuspecting poor soul that heads that way. With the legend getting bigger, a show based on paranormal activity goes to the house. Being greedy, they want to boost ratings. What’s the surefire way to boost those ratings? They get Angela to join them. That may boost ratings but is your life worth it? The crew will soon find out if it was once they start to get picked off one by one.  He tortures their sanity and tests their trust to each other. They have to find a way to kill him before he kills them. But how do you kill a spirit? Specifically, a spirit that looks like a clown?

For me, killer clown movies are hard to pull off. I have only ever liked two and it seems the list will remain: 100 Tears and Killer Clowns from Outer Space. The Brunswicks took on a difficult horror movie topic; I mean, those are big shoes to fill (no pun intended). They did well for what it was. I also give them props on having a supernatural twist to the film; not many killer slasher clown films have that. It had a good few kills to it as well. There were a lot of head kills, clocking in at least three or four. Don’t get me wrong, I love head kills; I am always up for decaps and pez dispensers. I felt some of the deaths were repeated, though. At least two of them I sat back on and thought, “Didn’t I see this earlier in the movie.”

We all know that B-movies do not have the best acting so we tend to cut a little slack on that area. This was fairly bad. Not so much on Mr. Jingles (John Anton) but more so on the rest of the cast. Mr. Jingles was just down right crazy! John pulled off the feel of a guy who truly went psycho. Just the crazy laughs and demented looks he does throughout the movie. It says a lot about roles he can pull off. The other actors in this movie were not impressive, between the over acting by April Canning who plays Angela and the people who are the team of paranormal investigators. Oh wait! I am sensing something as well! It’s… hold on, it’s coming… oops, sorry that’s just the after effects of bad acting. That was my impression of the acting in this movie. None of it was remotely even close to attempted acting. I really really try to give breaks to the indie scene but some are just hard to do.

This film was also dark. I don’t mean dark as in sinister but as in many scenes were lost due to lack of good lighting. For example, there is one scene were an “actor” gets burned to death and Mr. Jingles shows up. Well, figuratively. The scene is so dark, you can’t really see him… it’s just a black blob in front of the man burning. I think so much more could have been done with the film, or maybe it was and we just couldn’t see it. Most of this movie you wish you were there at least your eyes would be adjusted to the dark so you could enjoy it. I was just really disappointed in that aspect of the movie.

In the end, this film was a good effort and I would really like to see them give another go at it and it is definitely leagues better than some of their earlier work (like Biker Zombies from Detroit). Not awful, but nothing to write home about either. Like I said, if you want to scare your friends who are absolutely terrified of clowns then pop this baby in!
